Sam simHi everyone! My name is Sam Sim and it is so nice to meet you! I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as one of your Mentorship and Membership Directors for this upcoming school year with my Co-Director Lindsey Tran! SNA has made such a positive impact on my journey here at SDSU, so I am excited to be part of the board this year.
So a little bit about me! Ever since I was little, I have always wanted to be in the healthcare field. I have always had a big passion for learning all things healthcare related (in high school I was part of a health career academy). With that being said, I am so grateful to be able to be part of the amazing nursing program here at San Diego State (it was my dream school). I have loved my experience in this program and with SNA and I look forward to continuing learning and developing the skills I need for my future nursing career. My parents are both nurses and I am inspired by them and the amazing work that they do. Nursing is the profession I have always wanted to be a part of and I am so excited to have a career that allows me to help others. For my involvement on campus, I have been a part of SNA since my first year, and I have loved my experience with this organization. They provide so many opportunities and fun events for nursing majors here on campus. And allows you to connect with so many other nursing majors! Furthermore, I was also part of the Leadership Summit Student advisory board! I am also working at the STAR center here on campus as a Star Center Assistant, so if you need any assistance in planning your class schedule I would be happy to help! And lastly here are some random fun facts about me. I love to read, paint, and listen to Taylor Swift. I was a swimmer for 13 years and I am so grateful for the experience I had in that sport. I have a little dog named Kai and I love him. I love my family very much and am very thankful for there constant love and support. Finally, I am so excited to meet you all and to be a Director of Mentorship and Membership this year! |
lindsey tranHi everyone! My name is Lindsey Tran and I am a Track 1 Junior from San Diego, CA (specifically Carlsbad). I am so excited to serve as one of your Mentorship and Membership Co-Directors, along with Sam, for the 2024-2025 academic school year!
We are ready to implement new activities and events to strengthen the mentor/mentee bondings because personally, I know how important and helpful it was to have a mentor that was there to guide me as I entered college. Then, I got to have the experience of becoming a mentor and I loved getting to know my mentee and help her in her journey. So, a big goal of ours is to make sure everyone gets to have this experience. In addition, we strive to gain and retain SNA membership by showcasing everything that SNA has in store and what benefits it can provide during nursing school. I've been a member since my freshman year and have been involved in numerous opportunities SNA has offered to me and I want to encourage others to take advantage of these opportunities as well. A little bit about me is that I've always desired to be a nurse because my mom is a nurse and that inspired me to go into this field. I have an interest in becoming a L&D nurse and possibly becoming a Nurse Administrator after doing bedside, but maybe that will change once I start my clinicals. On campus, you can find me in the N206 Skills Lab or at Star Centers in the residential buildings as I am an Instructional Student Assistant and a tutor for Anatomy and Chemistry! Outside of school and nursing, you can find me cafe hopping around San Diego because I love coffee and tea. I also love going to concerts and crocheting in my free time. If you ever see me around campus, feel free to say hello and ask me what Smiski or Sonny Angel I'm carrying that day. For assistance in becoming a SNA member, your membership, or about your mentor/mentee you can reach us at [email protected]! |
