Damien martinez

Hey y’all! My name is Damien Martinez and I am so excited for this next year serving as one of the Global Initiatives Co-Directors alongside Emily Ho. I am currently a Track 1 Junior - I am really excited to get that hands-on nursing experience. I am originally from the LA area and have always loved San Diego. Being at SDSU has been one of the best experiences, SNA, especially, has allowed me to develop a caring as well as friendly nursing family from all different grades. 

Besides SNA, I am also involved in a variety of other on-campus organizations such as SDSU Ambassadors, President of the CHHS College Council Executive Board, and a Residential Advisor. I love meeting new people and talking about the randomest things. 

If you don’t see me scrolling around campus with my Airpods in then I am most likely at a concert. Yes, I will spend all the money in the world for a concert. Money is temporary, concerts are a once in a lifetime experience! A fun fact about me is I camped out 22 hours to get box office tickets for SZA when she performed at Viejas Arena. Besides being sleep deprived and sunburnt, I was able to get second row seats! If not at a concert, then I am most likely trying new food places around San Diego. 

I am so excited to see what is in store this next year and to show how amazing SNA is. If you ever want to get Happy Lemon or go to a concert please let me know!​

Emily Ho

Hi everyone! My name is Emily Ho, I am a Track 1 Junior, and I am from San Diego, CA. I am so excited to be your Co-Global Initiatives Director with Damien for this upcoming school year!!

SNA has provided me with so much, and I am deeply thankful for the chance to give back to this organization. I've been a member of SNA since freshman year and will forever treasure the memories and friendships that this club has given me. I love traveling and learning about different cultures and cannot wait to share these different cultures with all of you as your Global Initiatives Co-Director! We hope to expand the Medical Spanish and Introduction to Tagalog in the Medical field to more SNA members.

Outside of studying for exams and labs, you'll probably find me at the beach laying out in the sun, watching the waves. My favorite things to do are going on spontaneous trips with friends, from enjoying sweet treats to going on Disneyland trips to skydiving!

As Global Initiatives Directors, our responsibilities are to...
  • Aim to increase cultural competency to help eliminate culture-related health care disparities between patient and provider.
  • Coordinate a student-led Medical foreign language class each semester.
  • Expose students to holistic nursing options.
  • Raise awareness on volunteer opportunities that help students gain cultural awareness through other organizations.
