Dr. Kristiana CullumIt is a privilege to serve as Faculty Advisor for SNA at SDSU. I truly believe that SDSU has one of the best chapters in the nation and I am always impressed with everything the Board of Directors accomplishes in conjunction with its members. CNSA/NSNA has been a part of my life since I began nursing school at SDSU in 1998. I started as a class rep and ended my senior year as President of the SDSU Chapter, as well as, CNSA President for the state. The entire experience was nothing short of amazing! I learned leadership skills, how to work in groups, professional development, communication skills, and more. After graduation, I started my nursing career in the PICU at Rady Children’s Hospital. I obtained a MSN/NP Certificate from CSU, Long Beach in 2005 and began teaching at SDSU in 2007, while still working at Rady. In 2015, I completed my doctoral studies at USD and in 2016, I was honored to be asked to join the SNA team as Faculty Advisor. I, of course, jumped at the chance! My SDSU appointment allows me to do research with the pediatric population with diabetes, teach Pediatric Nursing, and work with SNA. I also still work at Rady per diem, but as an NP on the medical inpatient unit, and am Secretary of my professional organization. I have the best of every world! I hope to instill in all of you the same enthusiasm for leadership, and service, roles and organizational involvement that I experienced as an undergrad.
